You could choose to look at this day as an opportunity for florists, chocolatiers and card companies to get a much needed injection of capital in the dreary mid winter month of February. You wouldn’t be wrong mind you, but you certainly wouldn’t be a carnival ninja.

Carnival ninjas love all holidays, even fake ones. Perhaps especially fake ones. Because that means you can make it whatever you want to make it.

So make this day a day of beauty and happiness for someone you don’t know. Make this “make a stranger smile” day.

Slip candy in random coat pockets.

Leave love notes on unfamiliar cars.

Hand out flowers to people on the side walk

Send valentine’s notes to people you’ve never met.

Be the source of happiness in someone’s life for no reason other than to make them happy.

And then tell us about it.

Tomorrow is Valentines Day. Of course you’ll probably be doing something to let someone in your life know you care. How about doing something to let someone not in your life know you care too?

I slipped about 30 such notes into 30 pockets over the last few days. They said things like “thanks for being you” and “you are wonderful”.
